Liberty Ministries

Homes for Ex-Prisoners. Liberty Ministries received a loan for a home in Schwenksville, Montgomery County, Pa., for a residential duplex to be rented to male ex-prisoners with annual incomes less than 60 percent of the area’s median income. Together the units serve 10 single men, plus an on-site Housing Assistant and Resident Program Director. Liberty Ministries formed in 1980 as a Christian-based outreach to prisoners at Montgomery County Correctional Facility and the State Correctional Institution at Graterford. In addition to their prison visiting program for men and women, they offer a nine-month residential program to male ex-prisoners designed to give them Biblically based life skills to reintegrate in their communities. The program also operates two thrift stores. (Loan Pool I – 10/25/2002)
