Homes for Adults with Mental Health and Mental Disabilities. Donna Mengel is the founder and owner of Lamb Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides homes to 175 individuals who have low to moderate incomes. Ms. Mengel rents the homes she buys to the Lamb Foundation. In turn, Lamb Foundation rents the homes to individuals, who have mental health or mental disabilities. Lamb offices are located on Main Street in North Wales, Montgomery County, Pa., and the organization raises funds through the nearby Sweet Repeats Thrift Shop and its sister business on eBay, Sweet-E-Repeats. Lamb has received many loans for building in North Wales including loans for:
- Four houses used as homes for Lamb residents. (Loan Pool II – 5/9/2003)
- A single family home to be converted into 2 residential units, providing housing for 8 residents. (Loan Pool IV – 9/7/2007)
- A residential duplex to provide housing for 8 residents. (Loan Pool IV – 9/27/2007)
- A 6 unit residential apartment building that will eventually house 16 residents. (Loan Pool IV – 12/14/07)
Community Home Program for Children. NorthStar Property Corporation of PA was able to refinance a loan on a building that houses the administrative offices for NorthStar Youth Services. NorthStar Youth Services provides a community home program for dependent children. Children are provided with counseling and other services, attend public school, and are encouraged to participate in school activities. When possible, the agency also facilitates the return of children in their program to families or relatives. At the time of the loan, there were 68 youths between the ages of 8 and 17 in the community home program. (Loan Pool IV – 12/20/07)
